Five Element Acupuncture? What is it?
Five-Element Acupuncture originated in China well over 2000 years ago, it is one of the oldest forms of healthcare in known history, and has been passed down from Master to Student through the study of written texts and oral tradition. Acupuncture was brought to the U.K by J.R Worsley who's core training was the foundation of my college.
The premise of 5 element is that human beings are an inextricable part of nature. And as the seasons move in Nature, they also move within us. We can "feel" the seasons change outside before the weather does. Like that first whiff of Spring air in February when it is still cold and wintery outside. The "elements" are known as Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood and each are assessed within the individual to determine which one is needing treatment.
Five Element acupuncture treats a person at their core. It is an inner tradition of acupuncture that when the innermost core heals, naturally the symptoms of dis-ease will heal. Although our symptoms are often very physical in nature (pain, asthma, and migraines) the imbalance needs to be treated at the Spirit level. Classical Give Element treats at that level to allow the body to heal.
What conditions can it help?
There has been a great deal of research into the efficacy of acupuncture over the last few years, so in order to help sift ‘fact from fiction’ the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) have compiled a selection of fact sheets which provide accurate and unbiased general information for a variety of conditions.

What can I expect from a treatment?
Your initial visit will take up to an hour and a half to two hours and consists of a personal and medical consultation covering your family history, lifestyle, systems functions (eg. sleep, appetite) and full details of your current complaint/s and any test or investigations that you have had. You will also have the opportunity to discuss in complete confidence any concerns or troubles you may currently be dealing with. After your consultation I will carry out a number of short non-invasive physical diagnostic tests including blood pressure, oxygen saturation and pulse taking, I may also ask to look at your tongue. In most cases, aside from if I feel treatment would be inappropriate this is then followed by your first treatment. Subsequent appointments take up to one hour, and include discussion of your progress and your treatment to date, you will find I continue to take pulses throughout treatment this is normal and nothing to be concerned about, it is just how I work and to prove treatment is helping
